Make Life a Fairy Tale!

Happily Ever After...

Welcome to Happily Ever After

I have always been interested in fairy tales. I am a firm believer in living happily ever after. When I took the marriage vows with David,"until death do us part", I meant it. It has not always been easy.

Next year will be our 40th wedding anniversary. And I still love David. Probably more now than I did then. I look at love now with mature eyes and see his good soul. I didn't always do that. There were many times that I actually wanted to bail out of the marriage. My perception of what marriage really entailed and reality were two different things. I thought that he was to provide all my happiness just like the prince in the fairy tales.

In reality, the only one that can make you happy is you. No one else can provide you with happiness and it is very unfair to the other person to expect it. Happiness is a state of being. It is not produced by perfect circumstances like we are led to believe. Perfect circumstances may never arrive.

In most fairy tales, the hero and heroine go through trials and hardships before they find each other. They learn to be happy even in the most unpleasant experiences. Since the hero and heroine already learned to deal with hardships before they were married, then the rest of their life seemed like a piece of cake. They know that they are responsible for their own happiness and can happily augement each others lives.
